Kaimai-Mamaku Forest Park

For a genuine Kiwi bush tramping experience you can’t go past the Kaimai Ranges.

The northern section of the Kaimai-Mamaku Forest Park in the Western Bay of Plenty is affectionately known as the “Kaimais.” The ranges are cherished thanks to the stunning scenery they provide and the fact they protect the region from most of the winds and cold of the west and south.

The Kaimais offer a multitude of shorts walks and multi-day tramps on hundreds of kilometres of tracks. Tracks lead through the plush forest to stunning sights such as waterfalls and giant kauri trees. The forest is like a natural wonderland with a variety of native trees and ferns, and the plentiful rainfall in the Kaimais yields vibrant, colourful flora and fauna.
